Shari: Our Block Printers

Shari runs a small-scale, sustainable manufacturing unit specialising in hand block printing in Jaipur, India.
They are an artisan development foundation and have Fairtrade certification in place for their workers.
They are also committed to environmental practices, implementing a clean water program to recycle waste water from the block printing at their facility.

Our first ever hand-block printed collection, Lucia, was crafted by Shari at the beginning of this year.

What we love about Shari:
Runs a small team of artisan block printers and is a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation
Only works with GOTS certified fabric and AZO free pigment dyes

Strengths:
Has a transparent, vertical supply chain where all of the block printing and garment manufacturing happens in-house, no outsourcing to external factories
Crowdfunded and built a water filtration and rain water catchment system to create a closed loop system for the block printed fabric wash water to be recycled and reused

Interesting fact:
Through their foundation they have their own upcycling project making accessories from post production scrap fabric. The project is a micro-social enterprise providing mentor based education and training centres for female artisans
